Women Are Not Objects by Khushi Ghai

Even after the law - Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, are women still safe in places like Delhi? For a fact, we all know that violence and harassment against women has been increasing day by day. A lot of movements were started, various laws were made, but the condition of women and how they are treated is still the SAME

In 2012, the Nirbhaya case took place in which a 23-year-old female physiotherapy intern, Jyoti Singh Pandey, was beaten, gang-raped, and tortured in a private bus in which she was traveling with her friend. This happened in South Delhi. It was an outrageous and horrifying case that shook the entire nation. Various other cases happened in Delhi which shows that its not just the capital of India but even the "Rape Capital" of India.

It's very interesting how people think that they can suppress or overpower the voice of girls and just do whatever they want to do with them, but now it's ENOUGH. People need to understand that WOMEN ARE NOT OBJECTS and therefore, they shouldn’t be treated like one. Its not the fault of what they wear but definitely the kind of MENTALITY which people have. Wearing short clothes does not mean that girls give you consent to do whatever you want to do with them. Instead of telling girls/women to change their clothing style and outfits, we should tell the boys/men to change their mentality, because rape and harassment doesn’t stop in winters or its not that it doesn't happen with girls who wear burqa or hijab, so undoubtedly clothing style is not a thing to be blamed.

When a girl or women is harassed or assaulted, she undergoes a lot of things. It mentally DESTROYS her self esteem and self-confidence. It can also lead her to suicidal attempts and depression. She is not able to trust anyone because not just strangers but their own family members and friends make it impossible for them to believe in anyone again. For instance, there was a case in which a girl was harassed and raped by her own father and three of his friends. It is one of the most terrifying and appalling cases. It shattered her into pieces and resulted in suicide.

[Created by Khushi Ghai on Google docs]

There have been often cases of girls getting raped by her own male friends or their relatives in mostly rural areas where they are then asked that why didn't she do something to stop it. Its a very despairing thing when girls are asked that why didn't she take some action for it back then, but I want to tell each one of you today that when a girl says "NO", it means that the person needs to "STOP". "NO" is not just a word, its a complete sentence in itself with a period that explains the disagreement of the victim. Its high time to understand the "true" meaning of this word because saying "NO" is a RESPONSE and its a powerful one.

Even in this 21st century, there are a myriad of people who think that its their "right" or "power" to harass a girl in public or in private places. A lot of men think that women who drink, who wear short clothes, who are too friendly or who are outspoken are just simply "asking" to be raped. Well I'm sorry if you feel that way because like men, women have all the RIGHTS to drink, to wear their choice of clothes, to be friendly with the people whom they want to be with or to express themselves without being afraid. Its so upsetting to see how all these things are blamed on the education instead of the morals and values because from the beginning, only the girls were taught to take care of what they wear or how late they can stay outside at night whereas if we would have taught our boys to not look at the girls with their nasty eyes or telling them how to respect each and every girl, then I feel that things would have been much better by now.

In the end, I just want to say that our mindsets needs to CHANGE and people need to learn how to respect women, how to make them feel safe even at midnight and how to treat them equally because now the time is up for being silent and tolerating harassment, and abuse. Now is the time for women and girls to speak up and fight until they get JUSTICE. Being silent has never made any difference for us but I'm sure that "speaking up" and "standing against it" would DEFINITELY change something.

Tips for the MYP Personal Project by Krish Bansal

Tips for the MYP Personal Project

Are you stressed about the MYP? About the multiple components that it has? Does the words personal project scare you? Well, I am here to unfold some of the common myths and give you some tips that would help in getting you a good score.

1)Essentials in your project

"Your project needs to be very complicated and challenging" You must have heard many people say this and this is a statement that I used to believe myself intially and made me wonder if I would be able to do the personal project, however when I came across the past reports and the ideas that my friends had, I was shocked. They had ideas as simple as learning and creating a series of basic artworks.

The personal project should not be a simple one day project, neither should it be a project which is next to impossible to achieve. The 4 most important things that your doable project should include are:

a) A research element
If your project requires you to do extensive research about a topic, using a range of sources, then it would be beneficial as then it would be easier for you to showcase the various evidence of research in the first part of your report.

b) A plan
Your journey should not be a mess! If you manage your time well and you are able to follow a plan, then it will help you in 2 ways, first of all, the teachers won't run behind you so that you complete your work and since planning is one of the 4 components of your report, you will have good things to write about your time management skills and all. You can explore tools to create plans which could help you more when documenting the planning part of your journey.

c) Record each step and reflect
If you are able to record your progress and reflect on it, then the quality of the product that you create does not matter that much, sometimes you will not be able to create the product at all, but if you are able to document and justify the challenges you faced, how you solved them and reflected on them, then your report pretty much shows how much you have worked in order to complete the project and how you have utilized your skills, which is essentially what a good report should include.

So the PP is nothing to be stressed about, take it lightly, follow deadlines, choose a doable project and hopefully, you will thank me. Stay tuned, to get more tips:)

Quandary for the IB students by Krish Jain

Are you sure about continuing with the IB programme?

It will surely make  you have less breakdowns as you may have expected. If you have any specific queries, please contact me.

Hello everybody, with great pleasure I would like to share a few ideas and thoughts about what the essential elements to keep in mind before entering the IBDP. If you don't adhere to these tips, it might lead you to face great difficulties and may even lead to you scoring less or your diploma getting cancelled.

TIP 1 - Don't even think of delaying work

It is the most fundamental advice you will

be hearing by each and everybody who has experienced the DP or not. It may not seem
very important but it is. If you do not delay,
you won't be loading yourself with assignments,
you will be on the safer side.

TIP 2 - Choose your subjects wisely

I have seen people saying that, " I wish I had chosen the subject I liked and not due to peer pressure".

REMEMBER to choose what you like to do and not what anybody else asks you to. Your future is depended on this and choose your HL and SL based on your interest.

TIP 3 - Stay organised throughout 2 years

I ponder that staying organised is very crucial. I have heard from many seniors that staying organised, and

making notes, having a strong study schedule will make
me consistent and help me to stay on track with the syllabus.

 TIP 4 - TIME MANAGEMENT

Must seem easy, right? Believe me, it is not!

It would become so difficult to get enough sleep a day, have a good social life, and complete all assignments of your school. You have to become
very serious and complete all you school work before the due date, give sleep of at least 6-7 hours a day and even maintain a social life. Create masterplans, multi task, stop procrastinating, have a fast pace and most importantly, make priorities!
TIME MANAGEMENT WON'T BE DIFFICULT FOR YOU.

TIP 5 - ACADEMIC HONESTY

3 years ago, my brothers diploma got cancelled due to him forgetting to put quotation mark at the end of the sentence, leading the IBO to cancel his diploma in terms of academic misconduct and plagiarism. What do you think about this now? It is very strict about academic dishonesty which includes plagiarism, collusion and duplication of work. REMEMBER TO RECHECK EVERY TIME AND NOT LET SUCH A SILLY MISTAKE TO HAPPEN WITH YOU !

Tips on how to live a productive lifestyle in quarantine by Ananya Shahani

Do you have those days where you want your entire day to be productive? Wake up early and start being productive? but you end up waking late, watching tv till late at night and repeat? Well, here are a few tips that might help keep yourself productive during the quarantine. Follow this blog to get updated with a tip every day :)

1) Sleep Schedule and a Productive routine

The first step to live a productive lifestyle is to fix your sleep schedule. If you're like me, you would sleep late, wake up for online school and sleep right after school ends because you didn't get enough sleep from last night.
If I'm guessing, many of you, like me, wake up 20 minutes and less before your online school starts and actually do your regular routine ( brushing your teeth, taking a bath, eating breakfast, and so on ) during the breaks we get in between lessons.
So, to start off and live a productive lifestyle in quarantine, you have to stick to a sleep schedule, or more like a routine. My advice to help kick start that off is to set alarms on your phone. Set alarms for what time you want to wake up, what time you want to eat breakfast at, lunch at, time to study, time to sleep, and so on. By setting these alarms, it helps shape you up to stick to a routine and after some time, you may not need your alarms.

Set your alarms with small messages. It does help you remember what alarms you have set and if you want to add some fun to your alarms, set them in different songs ringtones and add emojis.

So this is my tip of the day :)  Just remember, try to follow each tip and if you want to live a productive lifestyle in quarantine, you are going to have to sacrifice some things and change the way you live. It'll be worth it in the end :)
I'll update you guys again soon with my next tip :)

When I was young... Younghyun Kim

When I was young

I lived in China when I was 3 years old. When I was young, I made many memories in China with my family. I lived in a place called Tianjin located in China and right above it is Beijing.

When I was young, I didn't know the language at all, so I went to a place called China and attended a Chinese kindergarten. I was embarrassed because I was not good at Chinese at that time, I was naturally good at speak Chinese. The reason I think I was able to speak Chinese well was that I wasn't ashamed to be wrong at the time. I just did everything that I heard, so I naturally became good at Chinese.

When I was in China, I also went to the Great Wall. My dad was diligent, so he always took my family wherever I go, so I still remember where I went when I was a baby.

(Picture with my grandmother)

Almost all of the photos were blown away, so I don't have very many photos, but looking at pictures right now, I still have the old thoughts. That's why I realized that photography is important. Beside that, I went to Tiananmen Square, Emperor Qin Shi Huang's Mausoleum Site Museum etc... but the photos were blown away so I couldn't find them.
