Tips for the MYP Personal Project
Are you stressed about the MYP? About the multiple components that it has? Does the words personal project scare you? Well, I am here to unfold some of the common myths and give you some tips that would help in getting you a good score.
1)Essentials in your project
"Your project needs to be very complicated and challenging" You must have heard many people say this and this is a statement that I used to believe myself intially and made me wonder if I would be able to do the personal project, however when I came across the past reports and the ideas that my friends had, I was shocked. They had ideas as simple as learning and creating a series of basic artworks.
The personal project should not be a simple one day project, neither should it be a project which is next to impossible to achieve. The 4 most important things that your doable project should include are:
a) A research element
If your project requires you to do extensive research about a topic, using a range of sources, then it would be beneficial as then it would be easier for you to showcase the various evidence of research in the first part of your report.
b) A plan
Your journey should not be a mess! If you manage your time well and you are able to follow a plan, then it will help you in 2 ways, first of all, the teachers won't run behind you so that you complete your work and since planning is one of the 4 components of your report, you will have good things to write about your time management skills and all. You can explore tools to create plans which could help you more when documenting the planning part of your journey.
c) Record each step and reflect
If you are able to record your progress and reflect on it, then the quality of the product that you create does not matter that much, sometimes you will not be able to create the product at all, but if you are able to document and justify the challenges you faced, how you solved them and reflected on them, then your report pretty much shows how much you have worked in order to complete the project and how you have utilized your skills, which is essentially what a good report should include.
So the PP is nothing to be stressed about, take it lightly, follow deadlines, choose a doable project and hopefully, you will thank me. Stay tuned, to get more tips:)
